Currently i have the CM SMPS MWE 550W 80+ BRONZE along with the following specifications :

CPU - Intel I5 [10400F]
motherboard - MSI Z490 A PRO
gskill RAM 8GB DDR4
SSD - 500GB NVME
GPU - ZOTAC GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB

i am willing to purchase another gtx 1660 super .. do i need to upgrade my current psu or continue with the existing one [550W]

That's only a 65W CPU, 125W /each 1660 super, so you're looking at around <400W peak. "Need", probably not, but want, probably so.

That PSU would do it but I'd like more margin, and like to have a spare PSU so I would retire that one as a backup while it still works and consider around 700W gold, because I'm more comfortable running a PSU around 60% load if it's not prohibitively expensive to do so. Putting it in context, the 1660 super is a few hundred dollars but the 700W gold PSU can be had for under $100.

Wait! Does 1660 super even support SLI? I'm thinking maybe not so did I misunderstand your intentions?
