I'm looking for an aftermarket solution for my Sapphire 4850. I've done some reading and have narrowed down my selection(s) to either the Zalman VF1000 or the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 Rev.2; do any of you have experience with either/both of these coolers on a 4850? Mostly I just wanted to hear experiences regarding performance and compatibility (how well do they fit on the board, any modding needed, etc.). I'm not necessarily tied to either of these coolers, either, so if there's a strong showing for something else, I'm willing to give it a try. Thanks for any input!

+1 for the Accelero. It's what I've got and even in the most demanding situations, I've never seen it break 70C

Wow; do you run it passively or have you got a fan on it?

(The link to your system isn't working for me; have you got a 4850 or are you running something else?)

It's better to use a fan on the S1, even though it's enough to use it passively for the GPU, other components would run hot. An 800 rpm 120mm fan strapped with zip ties on the heatsink, is more then enough.

The Accelero works very well on the 4850. I'm still baffled by how well it works, although the heatsink itself feels like a total POS. It just looks like low quality manufacturing...but it works great.

Edit: Yes, you should use a fan on it. Any fan will do, but a low-speed 120mm works best.

How does it fit on your 4890?

Quite well. Is a bit thick though with 25mm fans on it also, I'd get a slimmer scythe musashi if you're thinking crossfire in the future

The Accelero is the best video-card related upgrade I've ever made.

Weird, it's not working for me either...

I have an MSI 4850 voltmodded and overclocked to 795mhz core and 1100mhz (2200mhz DDR) on the memory. I have a 120mm fan strapped to it, but even when I didn't have that on there, it cooled very well. I recommend having a fan of some sort, be it an 80mm or 120mm (just use zip ties to secure it) as it does make a difference in temps.

Don't forget about the Akasa Vortexx Neo DHES cooler. It's always nice to take GPU heat and throw it outside the case instead of recirculating it to all your other components.

Oh yeah . . . I checked this one out several weeks ago and forgot all about it! It definitely would be nice to exhaust hot air out the back of the case. Do you know if any RAM sinks come with that cooler or would I need to buy some separately?

*edit: oops, not RAM sinks; I was thinking of something for the VRMs.
