Recently i found out (December 21st to be exact) my gmail account had been compromised(ie Hacked)... it was shocking and disappointing i had alot of eggs in that basket, i loved gmail thought it was the greatest thing in email.. until that day...

It was Really surprising as I don't use it at public places generally log out and had alot of things tied to that account.. various usernames of forums/ ebay account(been changed too!) etc...

so anyway come to find out today, my heatware account's password had been changed, i can no longer log to it. it was tied to that email address. I wanted to post feedback on some purchases and trades i had done in the F/S trade forum here on anantech.

So anyway i contacted heatware admins.. waiting to hear from them. I don't want someone using my refs for his/her swindling and i had 80 feedbacks!!! really bites...

anyone ever had a similar situation , suggestions...

I made a new heat account, but I was just wondering if there was a "way to go about" recovering my heat profile? i realize the gmail account is gone... or maybe a way to ban the heatware account or something so someone doesn't get ripped off ...

any ideas

thx
kel

yes they said if i couldn't answer my security question, they couldn't do anything about it...
also i don't have the verification code, i believe it was tied to an old employment email address, i had...I changed the secondary addy when i left that job...so there's not much to do on it i don't believe...without the verification#

I read about a hack, that happens it is actually some sort of javascript that allows the hacker to change the secondary (associated email address).. so then the hacker just changes that and the security question, and then request a new password.. that password is then emailled to him, i read about it on a couple of sites, one was where a guy lost his web site because, someboy changed his gmail account.. I'm not absolutely positive "that is what happened to it" ... but that's about the best I could find.. I only use the account at home and at work, both linux/XP machines , opera/firefox , firewalled and symantic virus...

That is why I don't even know my own gmail password, well that and the Russians could never beat something out of me that I don't even know.

KeePass ftw.

This is a crazy idea but hear me out, it just may work.
You could try to contact Heatware. Don't flame me, it's just an idea that popped into my head. YMMV.

Well, I know heatware admins at one time were AT forum members. Perhaps they will see your user name and registration date and then use the email address you have on file on the AT forums if you ask them nicely.
