Suggestions for wire-fu movies?

Homerboy

Lifer
(this is where people chime in and say "CROUCHING TIGER SUCKED!!!"

Besides that point, any suggestions for good wire-fu movies?

Jet Li flicks:
Fist of Legend - make sure you see the non-americanized version. the americanized one has a REALLY bad localization
Once Upon a Time in China
Fong Sai Yuk (both 1 and 2)

Jackie Chan (not really wire-fu since he does his own stunts):
Who Am I?
Operation Condor
Mr. Nice Guy

Legend of the Red Dragon (aka The New Legend of Shaolin)

First time I saw Jet Li in a movie that seemed to be more of a comedy. Pretty good wire work.

Oh and of course Shoalin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle.

I REALLY liked House of Flying Daggers. I thought it was an amazingly well done movie. Great story, great action.

Once Upon a Time in China 1 & 2 are probably the best in the genre. Skip part 3 though because it's terrible.

Tai Chi Master

Thanks for the suggestions. I've seen some of these already, will look into the others.
I have to say I'm amazed nobody mentioned Kung Fu Hustle. While certainly much different than all the others, it's a damned great movie 🙂

agreed

I'd recommend the Wong Fei Hung stuff as well, like Once Upon a time in China also Bride with White Hair was good

Pretty much anything with Jet Li in it.

ahh yes, don't forget Fearless.

it's definitely one of my favorite Jet Li movies. Totally up there with Fist of Legend

Yeah watch all 3, does not have all the cinematography as House of Flying Daggers, but the warehouse scene with the ladders and cargo is awesome.

Swordsman 2 was alright as well

- Iron Monkey
- House of Flying Daggers
- Azumi
- Versus (best final showdown fight in a movie, ever)

Excellent non-asian examples include:
- Brotherhood of the Wolf
- The Matrix (duh)
- Kill Bill

that movie kicked ass

:disgust: Other than Monica Bellucci being in it, I thought this movie was garbage. And the Iron Chef America dude didn't do that much in it IMO.

:disgust: Was it just me or was it boring? (Beating his kid to death was funny, but meh...)

No, it wasn't just you. That movie was terrible. (Curse of the Golden Flower that is. You're way wrong on Brotherhood of the Wolf. That movie is excellent)

the story of CoTGF did drag on a bit but the movie's depiction of the sheer scale of luxury that Chinese emperors lived in made it worth watching. Plus some was some slick ninja action.
