Hello guy, I'm looking for a video card and confused which one to get from the following:

1. Sapphire Radeon Xtreme HD 5830 800MHZ 1GB 4GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E DVI HDMI Mini DisplayPort Video Card $103

2. XFX Radeon HD 6850 775MHZ 1GB 4.0GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI Display Port HDMI PCI-E Video Card $145

3. MSI GeForce GTX 460 Fermi Cyclone OC 725MHZ 768MB GDDR5 DVI VGA HDMI DX11 PCI-E Video Card $130

4. ZOTAC ZT-40408-10P GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card $ 138

new addition:
5. XFX Radeon HD 6870 900MHZ 1GB 4.2GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini Display Port PCI-E for $170

Is this worth the extra 20 bucks for the performance?

any other suggestions?

Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 ATX LGA1155 Z68 DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 HDMI DVI SLI SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard

medium screen resolution of around 1600 x 1050. what if i play at 1920x1080? is that going to change things by a whole lot?

and looking at this psu: OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Power Supply

thanks

btw, is the hd5850 a better card than the hd6850? I checked the comparisons on the gpu benchmark here, and the 5850 trumps hd6850 in almost every category. wow it gets even more confusing

is the hd6850 really that bad? the normal gtx460 1GB beats it in most cases in the anandtech gpu chart. even the GTX 460 768MB is fairly close. even the 5850 is better than 6850?

However, the ratings i checked on videocardbenchmark show that the hd5850 is way above gtx460 almost 400/500 points ahead.

how much faster is the overclocked version of GTX 460 than the normal speed.

And then here's another addition (20 bucks increase)
XFX Radeon HD 6870 900MHZ 1GB 4.2GHZ GDDR5 2XDVI HDMI 2x Mini Display Port PCI-E for $170

Is this worth the extra 20 bucks over an overclocked GT 460 1gb?

thanks

I would'nt worry so much about overclocked versions of the card, those gtx460 cards can clock pretty good without much hassle using a program like msi afterburner.

The gtx460 is what the 9800gt was in the days of dx 10 :) its what every other gamer has it seems im gonna say mostly for its ability to overclock like mad.

The HD5850 is considered the better card in most situations (compared to the HD6850), but they are becoming hard to find now.
I love my 6850 in my bedroom system, it runs games great and doesn't get too hot under load. (XFX)

XFX makes some good cards i had a pair of 5770s in crossfire sandwiched together and im suprised they stayed pretty cool.

Was some dual slot heatpipe designed card last time i checked on newegg, they was sold out.

I'd get that gtx 460 for $138 based upon 1680x1050 resolution. If you creep up to 1920 x1080 then you might want to consider a beefier card such as the 6870 you listed.

I just ordered a HD6870. Did a lot of reading. The HD6850 can be overclocked but the HD6870 has more processing units so its not the same. The 5850 and 5870 are faster cards but dont have some of the other options the 6000 line has.
