I have a price range of about $150 and would like to get the most bang for my buck(like evry other consumer, ever). I've read websites and charts of performance and all that jazz, and i think i want to get the 6600GT or X800, and only reason i say i think i want the 6600 more is because, well, i never owned an ATI card before, and i think i would be more comfortable with the 6600.

The biggest question i guess i have about it is which manufacturer is the best, or are there any that i should try to avoid like the plague? For either ATi or nVidia?

If anyone has any suggestions besides those two, i am all ears. Just want to make an informed decision i guess

Evga is good, u can hardly go wrong though. I personally have the ASUS 6600GT, though, its prolly overpriced. And the 6600GT is a great value for $150.

How do you know what the PSU requirements are on both of those cards? I have a new computer and it has a 300watt PSU. Also, how do you know that one is better than the other? I am looking to play Doom 3, HL2, and some other older games. I need DVI as I am running a new Gateway 21" LCD. I was going to get the 7800GT but I really don't have the money for it right now. I think I am going to wait until Black Friday to see if there are any deals but I want to be on the lookout for the right card. I am also in the $150 price range.

So what if it does not have a VGA connector? It has a dongle that comes in the package that allows you to convert DVI to VGA.

have you taken a look at the new 6800gs? looks like a great new sweetspot for mid range. Barely below the 6800gt, and much cheaper

I was just reading about the 6800GS. I don't know much about it though. I was waiting for some other posts to start popping up on here so I can read about it.

That's dead easy :p
Get the Connect3D X800GTO that's (almost) guaranteed to unlock to a X800XT.

Do you know what the PSU requirements are for the X800GTO? My computer only has a 300watt right now. Unsure if I will need to upgrade that also and if so, which one? I have a case with BTX technology in it.

When OCed the 6800GS pulls ahead of the 6800GT. It's on a 110nm core (NV42). The 6800GT is 130nm (NV45). 110nm seems to be doing the 6800GS some good. Hot Hardware got 540/1230 out of the eVGA card.

You are ignoring the fact that 6800GT is a damn good overclocker too. Plus it doesnt need as big overclocks as the 6800GS because it has more pixel pipes..:D
