Suggestions for overclocking x1800xt with atitools

I have a saphire x1800xt 512
I use ATI tools to overclock it to 690/750 and the voltage to 1.4.

When i start fear it either locks up or when i enter the game it reverts back to below default settings. I have the fan on high, it doesnt get very hot.... Any suggestions? I dont OC the memory... Thanks for any input.

Did you disable any ATI services such as Hotkey or Smart?

Forgot to mention that, yes i did before i started ocing...

Do you have anything else overclocked? CPU? RAM? Does it happen with any other games? You say that it doesn't get very hot, how hot does it get at load?

65 during fear. CPU is OC'd a little.

I have the exact same issues with ATI Tool. Haven't been able to use it with any Catalyst version newer than 6.3, otherwise I always get my clocks reset to 400/600 (lower than 2D) when launching FEAR or some other things. I'm just using Overdrive for the moment...

I used Atitool for awile, but it was too buggy. I have the exact same card as the OP too. I am now running 6.5 ATI drivers, and merely OC it too 690/800 in CCC and just leave it there.

As SynthDude2001 said, if using atitool, use 6.3 or lower.

I just used 6.3 and it works now, i am able to play fear and run 3dmark06 at 700/800 no problems

HOWEVER

Now in fear, it wont give me the option to play in anything higher than 1280x960.....

Im sure it could be, but im losing some performance with the older drivers....
