suggestions for new machine configuration

Hi all.

I am a graphics designer by profession, and I want to upgrade from my P4 512MB RAM machine to a faster and stronger one.

For that, I've recently purchased Nvidia 7900GTX graphic card.

Two options I have for my machine are:

Option 1:

Intel P4 3.06 dual core
1 MB cache
Intel's D102 motherboard

Option 2:

Intel P4 3.00
2 MB cache
Intel's D102 motherboard

Also Intel's latest mother board is i945.

Please suggest me which configuration is better suited for me.

my budget is about $550 for the CPU, excluding the graphic card that i have already purchased.

Seconly, I would not like to wait for too long as I m in urgent need of a quicker machine.
