Guys / Gals,

I am planning a trip to Florida in summer (mid July or so). The length of my trip is going to be one full week.

I will be arriving at Orlando and plan to hit the theme parks for 4 days or so. I am thinking about driving to either Tampa Bay or Miami for the rest of the trip.

Which would be a better destination to go ? Tampa Bay or Miami ? I don't think I can hit both cities in this trip.

If you're wondering what I like .. mm... I don't really know. I am travelling w/ my gf, so romantic place and fun place would be preferrable.

Let's hear it from you.

Appreciate any help :)

Welcome to orlando! (In a few months, that is)
Anyway, If your big on theme parks and rollercoasters, goto Tampa and Busch Gardens. Where are you staying in orlando? Renting a car?

Tampa = nice theme park (you might be theme parked out)
Miami = further ride, beaches, crazy night scene
A number of close by Atlantic cities = nice serene beaches and closer

Edit: St. Augustine is a nice, historic town (old Spanish fort) with nice beaches.

thanks for all the replies.

I didn;t know Tampa bay has theme parks :) I might consider going to tampa more than miami.

I will be staying in orlando disneyland area. yes I will be renting a car :)

the keys would be too far for me. Isn't that about 8 hrs drive or something from orlando ?

Where is this smyrna beach located at? what's there ?

Thanks all !

I'd go to miami if you're a partier. Lots of nightlife, and a few sights to see. Fairchild Gardens is nice and relaxing, and you could head south and hit up some of the upper keys.

I was on vacation in Florida for one week couple of years ago, and let me say that Miami is awesome for vacations. If you're gonna be going to theme parks in Orlando then why do you need more of the same in Tampa? Go to Miami and go to the beaches and relax, and go out at night.

Come to Vice City. Star Island and Prawn island are a must see. So is Little Haiti. Watch for the billboard in Little Haiti which says "Life's a beach". Fun fun fun.
