Well, I decided I would try my hand at overclocking my comp after reading all the threads about how "easy" it is. What I've got so far is linked below. I had a couple of "won't boot" and memory test failures but this current setup has passed memtest86+ (24hrs), superpi, and prime torturetest (24hrs) with no problems. First, is this a pretty decent OC for a newbie? It reports at about 19%. Second, what would you suggest the next step be? I'm not afraid to break anything ;) so any suggestions welcome. This is pretty cool and a great way for me to learn my hardware. Thanks for your help.

Also, I am getting about a 7c idle temp increase, from 36c to 43c and up to 52c @ load. I realize this should happen with the increase to the chip but just wanted to make sure it's in a normal range. I have an XP90 on it w/ panaflo fan.

Thoes temps are fine. Nice OverClock you got there! What voltage do you have the CPU set at?

I have it set @ 1.60v. After reading some other comments, I am a little worried this may be a bit too high. Is it best to scale it back and find a lower voltage that's stable?

1.6 is a little high. Some would say it's safe, others don't like to go that high. Mainly having the core that high may take a couple years off the lifespan of your CPU but most enthusiast upgrade once every two years at least. So taking a year off a CPU that could last 5-6 years doesn't really concern them.

so pretty much 1.6 is safe if you don't plan on using that CPU for more than four years. give or take.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
