Suggestions for modding old case

my brother has always been interested in case mods and the like, and i have recently come to have an appreciation for at least limited case modding (for performance/cooling purposes mostly). i have an old emachine w/ a miniATX board i think, and we recently gutted an OLD packard bell leaving us with just the case, power supply, and the old as poo style motherboard. as a project i thought it would be fun to see if it would be possible to get the old emachine working in the packard bell case (as a test) and if that worked i could use the case for other newer, better things. i know with the two things being designed around different standards they wont match up right away, and it may end up not being possible w/out basically building a whole new case altogether, but if i can do this without going to a metal working shop, i would like to try it. if anyone has any suggestions or experience with this that would be cool 😀

Some issues that come to mind are:

- May have to drill new holes for the motherboard standoffs (the little brass thingies screwed into the case panel which the mobo mounts onto)
- If an AT style case, you may need to drill holes for an ATX power supply to be screwed in.
- If an AT style case, it doesn't have the same type of power button. You'd have to switch this out, and it maybe a little tricky.
- You may have to cut out the back panel for the mobo I/O ports to stick out.
