hey all:

i am looking for a new lcd monitor ..... preferably 17-18 inch and i'm willing to spend around 1000 dollars on it... which ones do you suggest?

or should i wait for the lcd technology to mature more?

thanks

so planar has good dead-pixel policy and everything?? i am afraid of getting a bad one (from my gainward 4400 experience)

Yes they do, I also understand your concern this is why we added a new Risk free guarantee to our store. Click on the little pop up ad that appears when you enter our site, it explains the details. BTW I hate pop up ads and have told the marketing dept this on many occasions, Sorry.

Necessary things to figure out...

1) What are you mainly going to be using this for? Design needs are different than coding needs are different than gaming needs 🙂 (Altho everyone LOVES a smash response time.)

2) What interface does your video card have? Are you willing to use DVI instead of VGA?

well i would like to use it for all purposes... although i do have a 19 inch viewsonic (not lcd) that i will be dualing with a new lcd (i have gf4 4400)... and so dvi will be a plus.

hey Gosharkss, what's the main difference between the CT1904N model and the PL191M model? there is about a couple hundred difference.....

I recommend the Eizo L565, 17inch LCD.

I bought mine 2 months ago and it is absolutely brilliant. As usual with Eizo, it is not the cheapest, but it has an analog and DVI connector and a very nice design (aluminium stand). I was really amazed about the colours, normally a week spot of the LCD compared to CRTs. Gaming is also no problem on this LCD, even 3rd-person shooters work fine (but I am pretty sure, that hardcore UT specialists will still recommend to use a CRT).

Resolutions under 1280*1024 are interpolated very well.

You can not do anything wrong with this LCD, in Europe it won a lot of reviews.

Cheers
Speedy

The CT1904N has s-video input hardly worth the money if you ask me, I would go for the new thin bexel design PL191M for $267 less
