Suggestions for gifts for the grooms men.

I'm getting married in September and I've been looking at the gifts for the groomsmen and my best man. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

I am just looking for something a little different than the typical engraved flask, zippo, etc. I got some catalogue when I went and put in the order for the tuxedo rentals and looked through there, and while it has some good ideas, they all seem pretty typical.

I'm just looking for suggestions for non-traditional gifts.

I've received three - two of which I found practical and still use:

1: Custom swiss-army knife with engraving in it
2: Custom beer stein with engraving
3: Custom wallet/money clip

One wedding I was at, the groomsmen all got putters (they were all big golfers). I think there was a small engraving with the date somewhere on it. I thought that was pretty cool.

yea like 4/6 of them are golfers, and I actually saw that in this catalogue i was looking through.

the other 2 like golf but they aren't huge golfers by any means, probably havent played in 2 years but they do enjoy it.

i got cufflinks which i still use. i also got a swiss army knife/usb drive that i only stopped using since the size became small by today's standards.

i've given cufflinks, belt buckles, money clips, flasks.

My brother instead of using Tuxedos, bought suits for everyone. While the suits were more expensive than the Tuxedos, each one of the guys could use it in the future.

You could always go with something like a video game console... flat screen tv, etc... something amusing that their own SO's would not let them purchase. It is quite costly though.

Or to be non-traditionnal , why not rent a camp somewhere and take them for a weekend of drinking, BBQ'ing and fishing.

One of the cooler, and least expensive gifts I've gotten were Wii points and Xbox Live cards.

If your friends are gamers that'd be pretty cool.

I strongly believe in giving "experiences". That way, they are left with the memory of doing something, be it familiar or new rather than someTHING that could end up collecting dust.

Depending on how much you want to spend, you could take them to a favorite team sporting event, or give golf lessons for those who golf, perhaps if any of them enjoy cooking or food, treat them to a cooking lesson, wine or beer tasting. Or, if you have music lovers, give them tickets to a local concert.

When you are presenting the gifts, write them a heart-felt (yet manly ) note and explain to them what you are giving.

Depending on their personalities, and what they enjoy, it could work very well.

I gave each one a pair of nice black socks (to wear with the tux) and concealed a gift card inside to a store that I knew they would enjoy shopping at. Most of my friends had been in weddings and gotten all the typical crap, as had I. I bet out of 4 or 5 weddings, I only have one gift and the rest ended up in the trash or garage saled over the years.

i do like that idea mikey, a nice pair of black socks along with something else maybe.

I've stood up in 3 weddings....gifts:

Wedding 1: $50 or $100 Best Buy gift card
Wedding 2: Remington 870 Express 12ga. shotgun
Wedding 3: Large cooler (with wheels), 6 pack of beer, fishing rod and reel, poker cards, cigars


Edit: Gave my groomsmen poker chips and nice Kem poker cards
