OK I have an Old P-1 233 lying around and was wondering what to do with it, i've been hearing about a Linux box or an MP3 Player for my car. Well i have 2 questions, what's a Linux Box and how do I make an MP3 Player?

Thanks,
Nore

Teach yourself networking with it and your new computer.

Teach yourself Linux.

Give it to someone less fortunate. I already have 8 computers, so when I got yet another P-166 instead of adding it to my collection I overclocked it to 188 MHz, bumped the RAM to 64MB, put in a 13GB hard drive, and gave it to my mom for Christmas. It's BLAZING fast compared to her old P60/8MB/2GB machine.

A 233 isn't that bad, any charity would probably be happy to have it, and it is certainly useable for anything but playing the latest games.

I keep my old P-200 box around for emergency stuff, like in case I have to type a book report or something, and also for SETI@home crunching.

I suggest you mail the system to me, I promise to love it and give it a nice surge protector to eat from, and keep its fans clean, and its HDD defragmented, and -- wait its a computer not a puppy. ;) Seriously though, you could find a neighborhood kid and give it to him if he's interested in computers. It would also be a good machine on which to learn Linux. Or you could still ship it to me because God only know when IBM will ship the ThinkPad I ordered on 10 July, and I'm sick and tired of using the computers in the campus labs.
