Suggestions for a proper Motherboard for a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000

I've just got today the Cosmos 1000 case (Click here to see what I mean). Now the thing is that the I/O panel in the top, according to the manual, says to make sure that the motherboard is on that will allow the connections so that the I/O panels work properly otherwise it will destroy the part[sic]

Now my question is, what kind or type, of motherboard would I need to look for. In other words: what feature(s) would I need to search for in a motherboard in order to for it to work properly with this case's I/O panel? Thanks a bunch in advanced.

Examples of current Socket AM2+ are welcomed because I will be buying a socket AM3 board, btw first time build for me ever so excuse my newbness, around April or May-ish.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

any modern motherboard will work. I have the cosmos 1000 myself, and I have got the xfx 680i LT and the asus p5q to work in it. However the motherboard screw holes on the case are a little off on mine (not sure if this is common), so my pci/pci-e cards have trouble getting secured to the case...

I see...Well I have not tried it myself in checking on that PCIE issue yet but I will get back to you much later on that. But thank you for your tip I guess I can confidently go about choosing a mobo just as well....*sigh of relief*....

I wouldn't decide on AM3 just yet if you're not planning to build until April or May. You never know what the PC world will look like in six months.

He means April-May is a long way off in the technology world.
And that there's not reason to lock yourself into a certain platform until the time gets closer for your build.
You just don't know how things in the tech world will shake out so far down the line.

Blain: So what you are saying is that it's best to get it over with due to the unpredictability of the tech industry?

No, that's not at all what I'm saying.
"unpredictability of the tech industry", in many cases is a good thing for builders.
Technology advances... Components get faster... Parts get cheaper...

1. Read, Read, Read reviews and news about upcoming CPU's, MBs and memory. That way you'll get a better idea which direction (processor, MB, RAM combination), will work out best for your individual circumstance.

2. If you're planning on an April/May build, WAIT to decide which parts you're going to build with.

Balin: Oh! I see what you are saying. To not simply just jump on the AM3 bandwagon just yet until the reviews come out for the motherboard and CPU's and see if they are worth spending the money (because it could turn out being better to get the not-so-older stuff that works better than the newer stuff).

I do read, or rather, I've been keeping reading up on AM3 for a while now and uh, I admit, though the information is not yet verifiable since they are just company figures; I do have this bad case of wishful thinking that the figures will more or less, although I doubt they will exactly, be consistent with what is being prognosticated by AMD.

Just in case there was a misunderstanding within my earlier question, I was only asking for Socket AM2/AM2+ motherboards as to whether they work for the I/O of the case I have. Reason for this question was because I deducted that if a AM2/AM2+ mobo is verified to work with my case, orany case, (already answered by TC91-Thanks by the way), then that means that Socket AM3 mobos would work as well wth my case, as they should (this expectation based to the best of my knowledge).

But thank you for the advice as it's exactly the plan I have to follow before making any uneducated purchases.
