Depends on what you want.

If you want a printer just for documents, i'd go with the samsung ml-2010 that ElFenix suggested. It's a great cheap little laser printer, that's perfect for most tasks.
Or if you want a good photo printer that can do photos as well as text, I suggest the Epson R220. Not the best photoprinter in the world, but it's got the ability to print on printable cds, if you're interested in that.

Newegg has a pretty good price on that samsung... I paid about the same for mine. And I recently picked up the epson r220 for $89.

$71 Shipped direct from Epson. Prints on photo paper and directly on cd/dvd's and replacement ink can be had for under $2 a pop so you can print like mad what ever you want.

I dunno I've owned an Epson and so have my parents. Unfortunately we both had problems with the jets developing some really nasty clogs after a while. Keep in mind that we were using the genuine Epson cartridges so the fault was not with the ink we used. I now own and I'm quite happy with my Canon Pixma IP5000 whick you can easily mod to print directly to CD/DVDs. CompUSA might have one or two available and they still have the IP6000Ds available in your price range.

Yep, I have 2 Epson "high-tech door stops sitting in my closet right now. Haven't worked in years, (but was glad I kept them because of the impending settlement). I also have a CX5400 AIO machine that recently clogged ALL the printheads, (of course, 3 months after the warranty expired), and after exchangind several rounds of e-mails, Epson agreed to repair it at NO CHARGE to me, and even paid shipping both ways. Imagine my surprise at THAT! In the interim period, I needed a printer, and having had such "great luck" with Epson's over the years, I decided to try a Canon...Happened on a demo model Canon iP4200 photo printer at Office Depot, which they sold to me for $70. AND threw in all new ink cartridges, even though it appeared to have full ones already. I bought an extended warranty for $19 just because it WAS a demo model, and have never had a better printer.
I got burned about 15 years ago on a Samsung product, and will never knowingly buy from them again...

I dunno. I have had mine for over 3 years. Only time I ever used original carts is when I first got it, other then that its been gernerics and I have NEVER had a clog or a problem with mine.
