Suggestions for a nice AV gadget?

Hi

I'm looking for suggestions for a video gadget, to play my movies and tv shows. I have a lot of 720p files on my pc, that I want to show on my tv. My current practice is to convert the files to mpeg, transfer them to a harddrive, and play them via my PS3 on the tv.

Then I saw the apple tv, which would make the process a lot easier - except you have to jailbreak it or convert to quicktime first. There must be some non-apple solution that can do what I want - do you have any suggestions?

Perfect gadget would be:
- can play 720p + 1080p mkv files (with subtitles)
- plugs into the tv via HDMI
- has a hard drive that shows up on your pc as external hd
- you can transfer video files to it via wireless
- smallish form factor and no noisy fan like the ps3

Thanks! I think the other version of the WD Tv, the "Hub" version, is actually exactly what I need.

Ya, the hub is nice. You can just stream everything over the network wirelessly if you connect a usb network thing. I had to change a few settings on my router's wireless settings to get smooth playback on 720p and 1080p stuff but once I figured it out its perfect.
