the orginazation that i am in charge of just got 15 grand for late night programming funds, the events just have to start after midnight. we are allowed to give out door prizes, prizes, etc

i want to do a LAN party with a good chunck of that money. i would say that i can blow 2 grand on it. what are the costs for renting network equiptment, switches, hubs, etc, and cabeling. we already have a large size room reserved at no cost, tons of tables and chairs, and all the works for that sort of stuff.

does anyone from the Pittsburgh Pa area (i am in indiana, pa) have experience in helping me set this up. from tourney brackets, to types of games, to hardware support, rules and regs, power requirements, prizes, just stuff lke that.

thx in advance

Routers are a neccesity. How would people hook up without one? Lots of CAT5 cabling of all different sorts and also a dedicated game server is a plus. Umm, some good drinks like soda's and what not are nice, hmm, copies of games that people can borrow for the LAN party to install there and use is a pretty neat idea, and then when they leave they can uninstall the game. :D

I suggest reading the artciles at Lanparty.com to get you some ideas on how to run a LAN party.

For drinks, I suggest Bawls. It will keep the party alive overnight :D You can even go to BawlsGaming.com to get a sponsorship!

I suggest getting several dual Xeon Dell servers so you can host games :D
