Suggestions for a 24"

27" is too much $ and the 21 " CRT is what i have now...so i'm interested in moving up size wize to a 24" LCD monitor. Looked over the LCD thread but wanted to post a question asking for suggestions on a 24". While i game alot (BF2/BF2141) i also do video/programming/etc. However, my main concern is for a 24" that will work top notch with games like BF2142 ETQW etc.

Any suggestions are welcome

Mike

Hi

I have had a Dell 2407wfp for a few months now and I enjoy it very much. I use it mostly for gaming.

i play the same game but that is really meaningless.

i studied my upgrade to an LCD from a 21" aperture grill trinitron and have settled on the dell 2407.

a good blend of color accuracy (for my photo editing) with good gaming power and price ratio.

savin up for it now.

How does the input lag of the 2407 affect gaming? Is it really noticable?

my friend plays cs and bf2 on one and he never complained. and i play with him on a 3007, and its great. go for it.

My 2405 is great for gaming.

You're going to need at least an 8800GTS to run games properly at 1920x1200; games don't look very good when you don't run them at the native resolution of an LCD.

I'd say go for the 2407. My favorite thing about the screen is the fact that it has five sets of inputs - svideo, rca, component, dvi, and vga. Things like HDTV and video game consoles look great on it, and you can easily hook up a bunch of stuff to it all at once seamlessly.

Might be worth it to check out the Westy 24" on sale at BB this week for $449. HDCP, lots of inputs, "Displays 16.7 million colors on an MVA panel". I'm gonna go see one now.

From AT.

It's $409.99 at Newegg after a $50 mail in rebate

Decent price for a 24" lcd/monitor hybrid, but the monitor does NOT have dvi inputs so you will need a dvi to hdmi input for digital signals from your computer.

Didn't see diddly squat at BB.

I went in, asked some chick in front of the monitors where the 24" Westinghouse was. She didn't say a word, turned 180 degrees and started waving at some dude who was a "manager" there. He came over.

Me: Where is the 24" Westinghouse monitor?
Manager: We don't sell that model, the only 24" monitor we carry is the Gateway.
Me: That's odd, it is listed in the BB flyer as being on sale this week.
Manager: I told you we don't carry it, never have. We only carry a 22" Westinghouse.
Me: What is this tag on the shelf that says 24" Westinghouse?
Manager: Uhhh, hmm, I don't know what that is, sorry.
Me: I suggest that you learn your products, what you carry, and what is on sale.

Wow, no DVI, you're right and that sucks. My 690G motherboard does have HDMI out but don't what to count on that with Linux installed.

I stopped at OfficeMax and some dude told me they just got in a 24" Soyo monitor. I went back and looked at the box, it said analog/DVI nothing else. No HDCP. We even looked at the 4 page owners manual, no info. He said it was $399. My confidence in Soyo would not be very high either.

Never noticed a lag, even in CSS
