Suggestions for 2.1 computer speakers

I had a logitech x-230 pair that finally died after 10+ years.. so I'm looking for a new pair of speakers. Is there anything good under $50 that will give me the same "awesomeness"?

If you have a big desk:
how about going with the monoprice 8250 ~$20 (speakers with 6.5" woofers are gigantic though :S)

speaker wire 18 gauge copper ~$7
http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023904&p_id=4044&seq=1&format=2

lepy 2020 Stereo Amp ~$20

With a back ported speaker like those at Monoprice how far away from the wall do they need to sit...could complicate things.

No need to worry about how far back from the wall. If your speakers are on your desk, then sound quality is not your primary concern. If it does bother you, plug the port. You'll get better bass, slightly less volume and extension, but better quality overall.

Hrm very interesting suggestion. I have some old floor standing speakers that I don't use since it was a 20 year old system limited to tape/ cd changer. I could be able to use them again with this and I just need to buy an amplifier.

Ingenius.
