Suggestions for 13k-15k reliable car for the GF

If you want a slightly larger car, the newer model year Taurus used ends up being about the same as a Fusion, with far more space and utility.

Mazda 3's are nice, if a bit small, so you may want to look at a Mazda 6 as well.

All excellent cars for the money, with excellent quality.

A friend of mines just bought a 2007 Accord EX (leather) for $14k AFTER taxes and financing. It's a decent car, 240 some odd horsepower and a really nice driver.

Maybe you can look into one of those?

Anything from Honda/Toyota will last forever provided it has been properly maintained.

Statements like this make me cringe.

pretty much this. while yeah if your buying new toyota and to a lesser extent honda make sence since they hold there value, but god are they boring! no personality at all, which I think is going to bight them in the but the same way it did GM when they got lazy.

Ugh, Jesus.

First, to Sparky: Why does it make you cringe? And to head a few things off at the pass, I don't care about any anecdotal evidence, your friend's friend's mother, the Toyota you had that you hated, or any of those other irrelevant single data points, etc. Show me a respectable industry source that has gathered data, done the stats, and given credible evidence that the two well-known Jap logos aren't reliable vehicles?

The consumer research from neutral firms has over and over again shown Honda and Toyota (and their luxury marques) to consistently be top 5 in reliability across their product lines.

To falloutboy:

The OP didn't ask about personality, he asked about reliability in a price range. If he'd asked for personality, I'd have given him suggestions on personality. He didn't, so I didn't.

Falloutboy IS the OP.

1. Mazda 6 (07-08)
2. Ford Fusion (07-09)
3. Honda Accord (06-07)
4. Saab is not my first choice, but it IS a safe car to drive. Not sure about the reliability though.

Fusion. I picked up an 07 I4 in march for 10k even, you ought to be able to get an 08/09 V6 with leather and some nice trim stuff for under 15

pretty much ended up deciding aura tonight, insurance is the cheapest of the other front runners (120 a month vs 80 so its a big dif) + GM certified has pretty good financing atm compared to the rest
