Alright folks,

I'm looking at purchasing a MoBo for my AMD Thunderbird 1.33GHz (266FSB). Does anyone
have suggestions for the best MoBo for that type of CPU? Right now I'm thinking of
getting one that offers 3 or 4 slots of DDR, AMD 761 chipset (heard that was the best for
DDR support), 1 AGP 4x, 5 PCI, 4USB. So far, I got my eye on the MSI K7 Master (MS-6341).
I know the have a -S one that has a Ultra160 SCSI onboard controller but I don't know
yet how it compares to the one I'm looking to buy: Adaptec Ultra160 SCSI Card 29160N

I appreciate all the help I can get. Any warnings on companies I should avoid,...?

hard to say right now for ddr boards, most amd761 boards only have 2 ddr slots

the ali magic chipset is a low performer, most stay away from those boards
via kt266 is still unproven (plus many are avoiding via right now after the whole 686b bug issue) i still like via, and might get an asus a7v266 (via kt266 chipset) board in a few months

the new sis chipset looks awsome, but it will be a while before boards are available

if you want amd 761 chipset boards the best is probably the asus a7m266 (but expensive, and no multiplier adjustment for overclocking)
another good amd 761 board is the epox 8K7A

for me personally ill stick with a via kt133a board for a few more months and see what happens with ddr
i absolutly love the asus a7v133 and the iwill kk266 (both kt133a boards)

Bug with the VIA686B??? Uhm. What is the bug anyways? I found another board that looks good.
At least I thik it is. Found some good comments about the EPoX EP-8K7A+ but it has a AMD-761 + VIA 686B AGPset.
