I'm looking into getting the x800 xl video card that ati was suppose to release sometime early this month, doubt it will happen so I am wondering if anyone has heard/read of another due date? I have my pci-e system rdy to be built now I am just waiting on that card (seems to be the best card so far out there now/coming for the price???).

Also, what do you think of this:

ASUS "A8N-SLI Deluxe"
AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+
Geil pc3200 1 gig (should I go 2 gigs and I was going to get 4x256mb for the gig of ram think this is wise? Thinking of taking advantage of the dual channel...)
x800 XL (whenever it comes out...)

And for a psu I was thinking OCZ PowerStream 520 Watt. The rest of the stuff I can figure out but how does this look so far? Any suggestions? I am going to order this when the x800 xl comes out but if there is a better carc for about that much then I'll just buy it.

Uhh.. if you're getting a non-SLI video card, why do you need an SLI mobo?

Get 2x512MB of RAM, probably from Corsair/Mushkin/Crucial (I think Geil's slightly below them in terms of quality) for $140.

The X800 XL is not going to be available until the beginning of febuary from what I can tell. If it is anything like 6800 gt PCI-e, it is going to have a huge demand and relatively low suppies, so the prices are going to be way over MSRP. Also, the SLI motherboard can only run nvidia cards (6600gt, 6800gt, and 6800 ultra to be exact) in SLI, so it would be a waste of money. Just get a nForce4 ultra board or maybe the new via chipset w/ PCI-e.

ATI's SLI plans will require using a motherboard with an ATI chipset so you will never be able to run ATI dual cards on any existing SLI motherboard.

You might want to consider getting the 3200+ instead of the 3500+. Its a lot cheaper, and you only loose 200mhz.

THe OZC Powerstream 520W is overkill. You could easily do fine with the 420W version, or the modstream 450W, which is under 100.

Well, it was either the asus or the abit k8 something. I decided on the asus because I wanted pci-e. If I have to get an nvidia card i will, if that's the only thing keeping me from the board, i've heard it's the best board out so far? I'm thinking gaming needs and also being able to upgrade in the future. I'll look into the RAM. The only reason I said the OZC powerstream was becuase of the name and the color. Pretty nice psu :D

Consider NF4 Ultra boards for single-PCIe; Chaintech has a pretty good one out right now, but I'd wait for more selection.
