Hi,

I have a compatibility problem with my Power Suppy and my Asus A7N8X MB. The Asus board has two fan connectors on the board sandwiched in between two random pieces.

My power connection from the power supply does not fit onto the asus fan connection points.

I had a giga-byte board and had no problems because there was nothing on either side of the case and ps fan connections. The PS now has 6 pins all together.

Any suggestions on which PS I can use??? I'm looking to buy another case as well and put my giga-byte system back together.

Thank you,

Don

I assume you mean the fan monitoring cable, since the power supply doesn't draw any power from the motherboard headers. I've never seen a connector that was any different size from the standard 3-pin size (it isn't cost-effective for a manufacturer to use a non-standard part), and the connector from my PSU fits perfectly fine on either port on the A7N8X. What kind of power supply do you have? Can you take a picture of the connector? If nothing else, the power supply doesn't HAVE to be plugged in to one of the headers. All the cable is for is to allow monitoring of the speed of the PSU fan.

Thanks,

I guess the 6 pin cable I have is no longer used. So, I have the cpu fan plugged in and I don't have the fans plugged in but I don't need them apparently...

I will finish the machine today and give it a whirl.

Are you referring to the auxiliary power cable? I didn't realize it was the 6 pin cable you meant (even though you said it). That cable is only used for server motherboards to supply extra power to the board that the normal ATX power cable can't deliver. It's not a fan connector.

The AUX power connector that I think you're referring to is visible here.

Ya,

I think that is it...

I have two connectors that are not being used. That one and the square shaped four hole plug that is also in the picture you sent me.

I got about 1.5 feet of snow so I haven't had time to tinker but I will work on it and post my results.

Thanks again

The square 4-pin cable is the ATX 12V cable, used on P4 boards to supply extra power for the processor.

Cool...

Thanks for all the help. I'm going to finish putting everything together. I still have to do the leads for the Power / LED / ETC on the front right corner of the board and then I can power it up.
