So I was reading a thread in General Hardware when I saw this post:

Thanks for the all suggestions! Also didn't realize the message control panel doesn't have linking by default. Oops

phasseshifter - thanks for the mobo suggestion

Ken g6 & Cerb - thanks for the ssd info, I'll go with one drive for now.

Omar F1 - thanks for the Fractal Design suggestion

Below is what I've finally settled on with links!

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K - $339.99

Mobo: ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 - $144.99

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM - $149.99

Video Card: GIGABYTE GV-N970WF3OC-4GD GeForce GTX 970 - $339.99

SSD: Crucial MX100 CT512MX100SSD1 - $204.99

Power Supply: SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold - $89.99

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 - $79.99

DVD drive - SAMSUNG DVD Burner 24X - $19.99

OS - Windows 7 Pro 64 bit - $139.99

Subtotal - $1,509.91

and I noticed that when he wrote SSD it turned into SSD: because of the smiley face text equivalent of "D :" without the space.

That has happened a few times to me as well and usually I just go back and edit my post and insert a space in between.

So my suggestion is to change the smiley faces from ": )" or "D :" to all have a "nose" really a dash in between like this ":)" or "D-:" so it doesn't interfere with normal text typing such as SSD : (imagine without the space, I can't type it without the space or the smiley will show up)

Ok thanks, later.:D

I agree something should be done about SSD:. I also just spotted another similar issue:

"C:\Program Files\..."

Also, this thread should probably be moved to the Suggestion Box.

Wonder if it would be possible to only have the smilies show if there's an empty space on either side. That would fix the problem.

Or the OP can disable smilies when creating the post but that doesn't help the readers if they don't do that.

Wouldn't most people use the wrap code feature for this?
C:\Program Files\...
Code:
C:\Program Files\...

SSD: No problems here :) :/

I clicked the button to quote the above post.
Clicked the "Disable smileys in text" box. It even fixed the smileys in the quote.
