Suggestion on motherboard for LAMP Server

Parasara

Junior Member
I want to build a low traffic LMAP server.
I am looking for the following:

  • A motherboard with built-in processor (like atom)
  • A motherboard with DC input
  • A motherboard with 6Gbs sata for SSD
  • Small form factor
  • Low power consumption
  • Dual LAN ports (preferable but not mandatory)
  • Not planning to connect Other drives (DVD) or add-on cards

Please advice what is the best hardware

Thanks

I'm a big fan of getting something that you can do AMT on, ie: to access the machine's console remotely, "out of band", just in case you have to reboot it. So you can put it in a corner or on a rack somewhere, and not even bother with a LCD. Sometimes this functionality is also referred to as IPMI.

I believe there are Q87 mini-ITX boards around if you look. Certain Intel NUCs may also have the features. A lot depends on what sort of I/O you need. Technically you can run LAMP on literally a Raspberry Pi or similar, but most people like something a little bit stronger.
