Its a broad topic, firewalls, antivirus/virus, spyware, network security etc. etc., and altho theres always some crossover with other board categories, its a critical subject and might serve people very well if it was centralized.

Antivirus goes in OS or Software. Spyware is not really a security issue, but more of a societal one, toss it in OS or software. Firewalls are software or more appropriately networking. IDSes are like firewalls, software or networking. IPSes follow IDSes, despite the myth they have more brains. System security goes either in OS if it is the OS we are talking about or Software if it is a piece of software.

Under no circumstances does this go in HT or GH.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Why do people want to sort things out into the smallest possible category? I hate having to check 12 different forums for something interesting already.

If you know there is a security forum and you want to find discussions on particular issues regarding it, then you wouldn't have to go to 12 different forums to cover the threads. ;)

I'd still have to go to a half dozen forums to cover: OS, Network, Software, Technical Support, General hardware, Distributed Computing...

That's either "Malware" or just a plain "trojan." ;)
