Why don't you guys break VC&G down into AMD, NV, and General? It would not remove all trolling, but it seems that forums that do this (such as OCN, [H]) have fewer problems and trolling/baiting. That way if someone posts some thread with an inflammatory title, they would not rile up all the fanboys on the other side of the fence. And if someone tries to pull that stuff in General, you can move it over to AMD or NV. The unfortunate side effect is that General becomes less popular as a result, but I think that's a small price to pay.

But the real reason may be this: where would a legitimate person post a thread where they were asking about the virtues of an nv or amd card that they were looking over for purchase?

It's an interesting suggestion that we get from time to time, but ultimately one we decline each time.

We feel that we don't have the kind of traffic necessary to support 3 forums like that, and segregating trolls not a real solution to the social problems.

Yeah I can see that, but I think it's possible that the lack of segregation has led to VC&G having more than its fair share of crazy arguments that scare off normal people thus leading to lower traffic... not sure the cause-and-effect is one-sided, in other words.

Whereas if there were segregation, maybe normal people could talk in General, and people with problems with specific AMD or NV cards could be addressed in the AMD and NV subforums. And of course the inflammatory stuff could be moved to one side of the fence or another to suppress flamefests.
