Suggestion for usenet services?

I <3 Astraweb. I use their pay-per-download program... the bandwidth is great, and the GB's that I've already paid for don't expire if I go a couple months without downloading anything.

14.95 unlimited. I think 24 day retention

I use Newshosting and love them - I used to have Astraweb and haven't regretted the switch one bit.

I use easynews. 10GB@$10USD. Speeds are great, connections consistant.

Easynews is good for fills but the pricing is downright ridiculous for power users.

Frontiernet killed binaries several months ago, you're a little bit late.

Yep, back in March I think. I didn't move to this location till late this summer, and didn't need binaries till now.

I went with the first suggestion, and spent 25 bucks on 65 gig. That should last quite a while I think.

Would last me at least a week and a half. You download too much.

Anyway newshosting is the choice to go with.

Anyone care to explain via PM or here what benefit Usenet is over BT or filesharing?

It's an honest question... I've just never gotten the hang of Usenet.. 🙁

Convince me.

What client do you use for finding and downloading the binaries? I've used Forte's Agent forever and it works great most o the time but can be a bit clunky and doesn't tell me how fast/slow it's going. Anyone recommend anthing better? The main thing is that for one file with 100 parts it should only take up one line and not 100 lines for each individual part. Otherwise it's a pain.

I use NewsLeecher but i'm getting sick of having to unrar files when thier done and looking for some way to automate it

How does Astraweb compare to giganews in terms of speed? I just signed up for giganews today, and the speeds are phenomenal, but I am going through the bandwith like a fiend. If I get Astraweb it would be the unlimited DSL (even though I am on cable, the bandwith cap is higher for the DSL vs regular).

I constantly get 3.95MBps on my 4MBps connection on their pay as you go plan
