suggestion for usb 2.0/firewire PCMCIA card for Linux?

Could anybody suggest a PCMCIA USB 2.0 or Firewire (either separate or on the same card) PCMCIA card that's would work without issue in Xubuntu 7.10? I had checked their own forums, but I hadn't been able to glean much there.

If not, where might be a good site to check for hardware compatibility with Linux, concerning PCMCIA cards of this sort?

I thought Linux was supposed to be compatible with PC hardware?

I use an Adaptec DuoConnect - 2 USB 2 and 2 Firewire (1 six and the other four.)
