My main goal is to come out of this with a really nice monitor. These are the current specs on the computer I am currently using.
Intel Pentium4 2.8GHz
2x512MB PC-3200LL XMS Corsair [1024MB]
Western Digital 80GB 7,200RPM HD
Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9800 PRO
Gigabyte Gaming Fortissimo 7.1 Soundcard
Blue ANTEC case w/ window [Austin 450W power supply]
Abit IS7
Lite-on DVD ROM 16x
Lite-on 52x24x52x
Monitor : Samsung Syncmaster 955DF
I've had this computer since the summer of 2003 and remember spending around $1400.00
Its been running really great ever since, currently handling games really well such as Half-Life 2, Doom 3, World of Warcraft, Counter-strike : source.
Now this is what I "FEEL" like doing, although I need a lot of direction.
Im looking to re-arrange my room in a way where I'm getting rid of the TV, re-arranging the furniture so I have a corner desk where I have my computer set up, and room to do my college work on. NOW, i became really interested in purchasing a new monitor when i saw my uncles DELL 2001FP LCD monitor..it looks utterly AMAZING..
THE QUESTION [if you feel like passing through all the useless stuff]
I am looking to purchase a monitor that I can watch DVD's on, and play games where it looks really NICE [prefirabbly LCD].. and maybe watch TV and play my consol games [gamecube, xbox] on, not sure if that's possible. I'm not sure if it would be wastefull to go all out and purchase a 30'' LCD screen from dell or another company for that matter. Or if I am looking to purcahse a monitor for television, dvd, gaming purposes, would it make sense for me to go all out in purchasing a new computer system, or would my current specs be able to handle what I'm looking to do.

The home media center monitor included with this computer, I'm not sure if this is also something I'm looking for that would completly satisfy my needs based upon what I want it to do and performance wise.
