Well it looks like my Fuji FinePix 1400Z of 2 some years has decided to step over the hill so I'm on the search for a new digital camera. I know a few things but I'm far from being a whiz in this area. My budget is under $500, but the cheaper the better (~$300 maybe?). Here are some of the things I've noticed/I'm looking for:
This will be used predominantly for macro photography, as in 1cm-1m. Digital zoom (2-4x) is preferable.
I need a decent LCD screen as I will be taking most photos using this as opposed to the manual viewfinder. A HUGE plus would be a screen that swivels so I can look into the camera and take pictures (or take pictures at any angle really). Resolution actually isn't that big of a deal. If it can do 1600x1200 I'm more than satisfied. It has to be able to take good daylight pictures without a flash and without blurring (like the FinePix does). Fast writing speeds are also a must (as in I can scroll relatively fast through higher resolution images). I don't need any kinda of fancy features like video/audio capture. Obviously a USB connection, 2.0 if that even exists. Doesn't matter how large of a memory card it comes with as I will get that separately. I don't need any fancy features either like AV capture; I'd rather have higher quality photography. A strong flash is also a must; I've noticed some Nikons to be weak in this area. I won't get an HP. I also need an AC adapter. I have NiMH batteries and charger. So I guess I'll be looking at Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Sony, Olympus, what else? Is there some online resource with overall "best" cameras? Or at least most popular ones?
Thanks!
