Anyone know of any utility/app for Win7 that can log disk activity? What I want to do is find out how much time in a typical usage session the disk is idle vs. busy.
I'm looking to upgrade the SSD in my laptop (currently a Corsair F120), but do not want to incur a power usage hit with the new drive. The potential replacement drives I'm considering (Samsung 840, marvel-based drives s/a Plextor M3,M5, Sandisk Perf.Pro, etc) are better at idle but several times worse in their busy state based on the SSD bench. I know that my usage should be mostly idle, but after keeping Windows' performance monitor running in the background for a while, there's spikes of activity non-stop, even if I'm just sitting at the desktop with practically nothing running and don't even move the mouse...so I'd like something to keep track of how much activity is actually happening so I can figure out what my % disk idle/busy time is. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
