I think it is about to upgrade my computer (still using a 1.1 usb port, pc133 rams), and I am in search of a mobo. I want to reuse my cpu that I got from my sony vaio system, and here are the specs. Is it possible to overclock that cpu? If so, can anybody give me some suggestions on the best mobo in terms of the price and ease of overclocking? Would it better to purchase an AMD athlon-M and an abit nf7-s instead? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

2.2A's aren't the best overclocking P4, for sure, but it will let you use the system until you can afford a 2.8C or a 3.0C. As far as motherboards, I would recommend getting an Abit IC7, IS7, or AI7. They all overclock very well, and are very stable. I hear that the AI7 overclocks the farthest, if that interests you.

I recommend the Asus P4c800-e, awesome board that can handle up to pc-4800 ram. Get a 2.4c or 2.6c and you can overclock around 1ghz over rated speed.

i have used gigabyte mobos for the P4 systems i have built and they work great, except the onboard sound never works (thats ok thou i like quality), but they have a great software package that comes with em. 8knxp is what you want for a P4, and i chose that board over a IC7-Max on the software package
