I am looking for possibly a home theater in a box system.... I have a Yamaha in box right now...

I am upgrading my downstairs..... I wanted to get a decent receiver and speakers. Are wireless speakers the way to go ? Pros and Cons

I have no problem buying a separate receiver, and separate speakers and components....

Any suggestions

my price max is ~750

Yes, going the separate route is going to be widely encouraged around here, and rightfully so. No, wireless speakers, in general, suck. Avoid that as well.

I'm a big fan of Denon's lineup as far as receivers go. You can get a midrange receiver around $350ish that'll last you quite awhile.

For speakers, you'll need to tell us what you use them for. Primarily movies? music?

At ~$750 you're looking at the cheapest AVR you can possibly get away with, plus as good a sub/speaker deal as you can find.

How big is the space?

Thanks fellas... I planned on going with a Denon receiver....

I dont need anything to pound off the walls obviously, but it will be more for movies/music/hd sporting events.

Currently the house when i bought is it ran with some speaker cables, which i planned pulling.

I am in the a/v side for VTC for a profession, but we dont normally use receivers much, since we use high end expensive material and matrix switcher boards thru amx/autopatch/rane for mics and volume cards thru the amx line etc.

the room ilooks to be about 30x10 or so... nothing huge...

IMO saving a bit of money and getting this Onkyo 576 (or in silver if black is sold out) is worth it. You need to put as much to the speakers and sub as possible.

Good receiver, crappy speakers. ;)

You'll want full-size drivers (5+", probably 6.5") and a real (10+", 200+W RMS) subwoofer. There are a lot of ways you could go; depends exactly where you plan to place the speakers (right on/by the wall is quite limiting) and how solid the budget is. This was ~$450 last month, but even at the current price would be great if you have the room to let the rear-ported speakers breathe a bit. Or get one of the various decent ~$200 subs (BIC F12 -- currently OOS everywhere -- or PA120 -- check eBay -- or T250 -- see link above -- or Dayton Elite) and put however much you can towards a few pairs of cheap decent bookshelves...

If you really insist on smaller speakers, this (note that they're rear-ported) or this plus a sub should do OK, though I really do recommend bigger ones.

oh to me, the smaller or bigger speaker isnt an issue...

I prefer denon recievers... the yamaha i have is fine for what I need to use it for in my bedroom....

i am going to be purchasing two systems one for my game room and one for the living room so.... the living room doesnt need to be knock out... the product above may be perfect for that IMO...
