How about alternating row colors when you get into a category? I can't remember if that's how it was in the previous version, but I think it would be easier on the eyes. Right now, everything is just grayed out.
 
i'll second this one. there's so much damn garbage on the screen now its hard to see whats what. this would be a nice option.

or more spacing between threads.
