suggestion about highly technical forum

alot of the OT posts in the Highly Technical forum seem to be from people who have a problem that is a little more technical then others. Therefore they assume the best place to ask would be the highly technical forum. Perhaps in the description it should state that the forum is not for hardware/software problems?

Good idea. Maybe something more to the effect of "not for trouble-shooting your system." However, one of the problems I've seen is that not many people read the descriptions, just the forum name.

yup, exactly

<< one of the problems I've seen is that not many people read the descriptions, just the forum name. >>

true, but if the users are going to look anywhere, even inadvertantly, they're going to look at the description of the forum. It would eliminate at least some of the OT posts

BINGO! I think that forum is gonna be a constant hastle for the mods and there probably is nothing that can be done about it. Its not just newbie members either, I have seen a elite ask a non-HT question there also. 😉

The issue is one of the major reasons, I suspect, why the mods didn't want to do it (I can't blame them really). Anand, however, seemed to feel differently (thank god, there have been some amazing discussions in there that would have otherwise never taken place). It's a problem, and one of the biggest is that people reply to questions that are asked in there even if they aren't "technical," which leads others to think it's ok. Of course....the definition of "technical" is vague at best.
