I actually bought these Ultras for $100 about 2 years ago :) They were brand new. The owners didn't quite know the value of them, but I guess in retrospect, I was the one who was ripped off. :(

$50/year to have a system you enjoyed isn't a rip off :p

FYI... One of the reasons why this thing warms up like it does is because it draws 36W of power at idle (turned on - no audio playing). Imagine running a 40W light bulb inside an insulated box. So if you want to save yourself some coin, turn the amp off when you are not using it.

:O oh damn, I did not know this brb going to turn them off, my computer is not even there right now lol. Its broken :(

I've had my promedia ultra 5.1s for SEVEN YEARS and they've been ON nearly the entire time I have owned them and I have had ZERO amp issues.

These things are unbeatable by any pc speaker offering. I paid 700 cad for them at the time at the now-defunct compuserve.

Just absolutely unreal. Obviously I'm fortunate not to have the subwoofer amp issue, but Im telling you nothing beats these things if you were lucky to get an iron clad set like myself.

Mine lasted about 6 years of being constantly on. They didn't completely die on me but the amp was getting finicky and cut off sometimes. I got a HT receiver and sub and the sound is 10x better now :)
