Suggested Monitor Resolutions and Refresh Rates

My monitors resolution at 1280x1040 is supposed to max out at 80MHz, which I run at 85MHz. Also, I run 1600x1200@85MHz refresh also. I guess my question is, will it harm my monitor by running the refresh higher than recommended, or is it one of those things where if it will do it, than there is nothing to worry about and I should be happy? Any advise is greatly appreciated and respected.

I hope that is not the case, although I can run it at 1280x1040@85 and be within tolerance I believe, or betteryet, I can run at the 4:3 setting of 1280x960@85 and be totally within spec. I guess if I am able to run at 1600x1200@85 comfortably, it must at least be a sign that I got a decent monitor, since it does 25MHz over spec without so much as a hiccup. I do like to be able to run at those high resolutions at times, and I hate low refresh rates. I cannot stand flicker. I cannot understand how some people claim that they do not notice it at low refresh rates. To me it is obvious.

[edit]Actually, I just noticed that it also runs at 1792x1344@85 and 1920x1440@85 with no ill effects. To me this is just amazing that this monitor can even do this. Is this normal or did I just get an exceptional monitor?

Any more comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Sounds weird to me that a CRT would be limited to only 80 @ 1280 when it does 1600, unless only at 60 in which case why bother offering it at all since it is unusable? Are you going by the published specs or by the installation with correct INF?
