Hi folks:
I'm planning to buy either a Tyan S2460 or S2466 dual AMD mobo in the next few weeks. I want to pickup an inexpensive sound card for use under Windows 2000 and Windows XP and possibly some flavor of Linux in the future.
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive sound card that'll work with those OSes? My needs are limited to simple media playback - corporate training videos and web-based media. I'm not a gamer so that's not an issue. I might watch DVDs on this box but it's extremely unlikely. The card has to be rock-solid reliable.
I'm a newbie in this area. Every computer I've purchased had integrated sound (Soundblaster compatible) which was more than sufficient for my needs. By inexpensive I mean as little as possible. If I can find something solid under $25 that's good enough for me. I'll be buying a new unit via WWW or mail order, not used on eBay.
