I am looking to get a new FPS style game. I play a lot of Call of Duty 4 and enjoy the game, but it is getting a tad old. I have played virtually no FPS games outside of that so just about anything is open. I don't like to spend a lot of cash on games so I really want to make the one I purchase count. Online multiplayer play is a must, and I would prefer it if I could pay for and download the game online.

I am a fan of the rainbow six vegas multiplayer, dunno if they do computer, but I loved it on the ps3, its a much slower game, so I dunno if it even suffices as an FPS, also a fan of the bad company, dunno if they even do that with the computer yet. If you like a little rpg with your shooter, try the mass effect, love that game, sorry for my non help.

Counter Strike: Source has some similar feel and gameplay to COD4. It's not too expensive too.
Stalker is a great single player experience.
The HL2 Series is a short and sweet campaign.

If you just want a mindless shooter there are plenty like UT3, ET : QW. If you want a bit of RPG thrown in go for Stalker and Mass Effect.

Yep. I just picked up Orange box for $24. I'm playing through Half-Life 2 again, and it's every bit as good as I remember it was 4yrs ago.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay

Far Cry

Crysis....the original game is a fun time waster but some of the user made levels really make it shine....I have enjoyed those more so than the original.

Stalker

If you're interested in single player and online, then you're crazy to not pick up the Orange Box. Otherwise, if you're more into SP campaigns, definitely Stalker.

Battlefield 2.

The graphics are lower res that COD 4 (Since it's a few years older), but you'll get to experience the thrill of going from infantry to driving a tank, to flying a plane (or chopper) within minutes of each other. It's part of what I miss when I play COD 4, the variety.
You can order the Complete Collection (BF2 + three expansion paks) for $30, and download it. EAStore
Some people hate on it, but for others there is yet no equal.

Tons of people still playing online (Real Time Look ). Also lots of mods are available for it, to extend playability.
