Going to be there at the end of September.

Staying in Windsor, have 2 kids (4 and 10 month).

I will start planning pretty soon so I thought I would start a thread about things to do.

Our 4 year old is pretty curious about everything, but in particular likes trains planes and dinosaurs.

I like pubs. ;)

Thanks in advance!

I'll be there in a week and need some ideas too.

What semi-unknown stuff can I do that is close to a Tube stop? Is Wimbledon cool? Any other tube stops that just have cool buildings and stuff near them? I'm not talking all the museums and such...I already know where they are (for the larger ones anyway).

- Check out Eton, it's next door. Has very nice/old pubs.
- Er...the Castle :p
- In London check the Natural History Museum for Dinosaurs
- I expect the Science Museum will have trains (Not been in a good few years)

If I think of anything else I'll post. I live in Egham, just up the road from Windsor. HOME OF THE MAGNA CARTA, BIOTCH!

When I was in London I had more fun by taking day tours to Stonehenge and Paris. Paris is only a 2.5 hour train ride away.

not a bad idea, but I think we will stay in England for this trip. we are considering a couple of day trips out to other cities.

If you venture to Stonehenge check out the Hawk Conservatory in Weyhill as well.

When we stayed in London back when I was in 8th grade, my family decided to take a train out to see Windsor Castle since we were kind of tired of London proper. My mom was trying to manage our expectations and said "Now I don't want you guys to be disappointed, but we don't have any guidebooks for Windsor, so we may not be able to find the castle."

And then we got off the train in Windsor...you'd have to be blind to miss it :D

Other things I've enjoyed in my trips in addition to those mentioned:
Canterbury
Madame Tussaud's
Royal Observatory at Greenwich

we will be staying very close to the castle, and i believe legoland in relatively near by too, as is a Thomas the Train museum.

Just a few hours, I'm doing an installation there and then in Billingshurst.
However, I'm in Twickenham and near the Thames on Wednesday :p
