Suggest some IP cameras for home security

I'd like to do the following:

1. Motion-sensing recording (record for XX seconds)
2. Inconspicuous (not easily visible by people)
3. Night vision
4. Networked (wired or wireless) and record video to my home server
5. No cloud/hosted nonsense or service fees required

Are you any good with Linux and/or programming? I use a Linux box backend running Zoneminder with a bunch of D-Link 932L cameras to much success. They aren't particularly well-suited to outdoor environments unless you hang them under something to keep them out of the weather, though.

It doesn't actually require any true programming to set up, but there is a bit of configuration for which an intermediate understanding of Linux would greatly advantage you. Further programming knowledge could only enhance your setup further for automating certain processes like archiving or dispatching alarms via text or email.

Personally, I have 6 various model Hikvision cams. I cant say much to their motion detection as I have them recording 24hrs a day to a local HDD but the 2-way audio offered by some models works well and the clarity was enough to help catch the person who broke into my car several months back.

i use Hikvision cams to record to my raspberry pi NAS.
for simplicity, buy a dedicated security cam system. i have been installing LaView for businesses and they love it! buy from homedepot or amazon. imho, LaView has the best bang for the buck. it is rebadged Hikvision
