I had the workgroup "Poop" once with 'pooter names "Turd", "Buttnugget", and "Sh!tbox" :)

[edit]Humorous true story :) I had dial in access to my university network while in college. Somehow, while dialed in, my workgroup of "Poop" showed up in the overall network topography. My friend was working in the campus server room when the admin found the workgroup "Poop". I guess the admin just got this wierd look on her face, scrunched up her nose and said "Poop?!?" really loud. :D :p[/edit]

My workgroup name was "Lord of the Rings" and my computers were all named after characters. My goal was to get 9 computers on the network ;)

I have my machines named after stars and star constellations: Orion, Vega, Lyra, Cygnus, etc. At work we have tons of naming schemes... birds of prey (Raven, Raptor, Condor, Vulture, etc.), Greek letters (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, etc), and Star Wars are some of the big ones...

whatever you name them, it's fun to put a big "hello my name is..." sticker on the side. always gives end users a chuckle.

Just keep them generic and easy to read.
In my small network, I use the format:

RoomNumber-ComputerNumber

Sure beats naming all your computers after each US State. Who knows where that computer can be.

But if you got kids, Disney characters work great.

Na, something farout and crazy. StarTrek is a little too 'geekish', but the cartoon characters is a good idea. :)
