I've already started a new build more or less, I have the rest of the details worked out but need suggestions on a STABLE mobo/ram combo.

I'm set on a C2D/ or quad CPU.

I need a mobo that is stable, compatible and 2GB's of DDR2 memory (2 sticks).

I've never been interested in OC'n. Reliability and stability are my main concerns and somewhat ability to upgrade in the future.

Time isn't much of a factor as I'm really just awaiting ATI's R600 realease, possibly Crossfire compatible. This will be mainly for gaming, multimedia, and home entertainment purposes...

Will be going in a Mozart TX case, w/ Sliverstone 750w Zues PSU..

All P965 Express and 975X boards that are compatible with Core2Duo will be Core2Quad compatible, according to the article here in AT (mobo section). Overclocking was hard because it caused instability, but that is no longer the case. These Core2Duos are so stable, even when overclocked, that it would be a waste to not OC one, even just a tiny bit. They're so packed with potential that Intel themselves offer OC'ing options in the bad axe board!

Whats your budget? For good overclockable ram, go for the buffalo ddr2-800 firestix, patriot ddr2-800 llk sticks, g.skill ddr2-800 2gbhz sticks, or crucial ballistix ddr2-100 sticks. If you want to run the ram at normal speed and still OC the CPU, just go for any DDR2-800 kit thats 1.8v and 5-5-5-15. If you don't want to overclock at all, choose the cheapest kit out of the 3 speeds (ddr2-533/667/800). I've used the g.skill 2gb ddr2-800 2gbnq sticks in quite a few builds, and they run great.
