Suggest me two good movies in French

Amelie
District 13
Delicatessen
Diving Bell and Butterfly

4 recent movies that are all pretty different and all very enjoyable in their own right.

Everyone here will probably recommend Amelie.

JCVD is a recent French-language movie which is getting critical acclaim. It might be playing in theaters in your area.

Le Trou

Awesome awesome movie and I can't recommend it enough. Think of it as the 'original' Shawshank Redemption/Great Escape/etc. Even if you aren't able to watch it for your class, I highly recommend you watch it sometime. 🙂

Soooooo many good French films. One that your professor will appreciate is "The Rules of the Game" or "La Règle du jeu", since it's a classic and incredibly influential; if you have the time and inclination, the Blue, White and Red trilogy; "Au revoir les enfants" is a great story that's based on the writer/director's own past; one of the best modern French directors is Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who directed Amelie, but I would suggest "Delicatessen" or "The City of Lost Children".

I just gave you a great list and I'm sure others will add to it...good luck and have fun. 😀

Au revoir les enfants is great. Never seen The City of Lost Children yet but heard good things about it. Plan on watching it sooner or later.

I was going to suggest Les Triplettes de Belleville but then I remembered it doesn't really have any dialogue. Still, it's a good movie.

Amélie and depending on what genre you're going for: a) L'auberge espagnole (comedy) b) Nikita (action movie where some really hot chick kicks everyone's ass).

J'aime bien les films français.

Talladaga Nights??

(Nope, only a french guy in it)

(Double nope, guy wasn't french in reality, just an actor)

Shake.....................'n'.............bake!!! 😀

Jean de Florette
Manon Des Sources
Diva
Uranus
le dernier Métro
Le vieux fusil
Vidocq
La Reine Margot
Camille Claudel

Classic Keislowski:

Blue, White, Red

These are good romantic dramas:

Amelie
Avenue Montaigne
Angel-A

Good but too weird and not wordy enough?

City of Lost Children
La Femme Nikita
The Crimson Rivers

Paris, J'taime
Le Femme Nikita
Persepolis
Brotherhood of the Wolf (don't remember if it's all in French or not...)
City of Lost Children

Crazy Movies:
Inside
Frontieres

Les Diabolique

That movie has been called the most suspenseful movie ever made. Indeed, the last five minutes of it will have you crawling up walls.
