Suggest me a good notebook.

Hello Friends,
I've been planning to buy a notebook for myself. My budget is Max. $1200. And I've been planning to buy that next month. Before buying I want to do some research.

My requirements are;

Brand: Lenovo, Sony VAIO, HP (wouldn't mind buying other brands if performance/build/design is good).
Display: 15.4"

Please suggest me some notebooks. Or, should I wait a few months? I read a thread where someone was saying price will fall and new things will be released after September.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Montevina chipset in July is worth waiting for if you can. Otherwise was are some more requirements you want aside from a 15.4" screen?

Otherwise www.notebookreview.com is going to be your best friend on this issue as they have reviews of every notebook ever released, and their forums are chockful of useful information as well.

Do you want to do any gaming at all?
Are you going to carry it around with you all the time? or is it just going to be sitting a desk all the time?

Thank you all for the reply. Well, I do gaming sometimes (but not a hardcore gamer ).
Most of the times that will be sitting on my desk. Probably, I will carry my notebook once in a week. lol ...

Besides 15.4" display, I'd prefer a decent GFX (dedicated will be better). At least 160GB would be fine.

Not to threadjack but I am also looking for a laptop in a very similar price range. However, my laptop will not be used for gaming and I'd prefer more of an emphasis on battery life. Other than that I think our needs are very similar.

I have been looking at the Dell's and Lenovo's, I may hold out and wait for a deal in August or September. The laptop will be mainly used for web development and it will travel with me quite a bit so I'd prefer not to go beyond 15.4"

The Asus M50 is really good and has everything you want for around 1100.
