I'm an avid gamer and I know that this idea of Free AV have been on this forum so many times. But as of current I am looking for an AV that is free and very min. I've tried AVG, Avast, NOD32 and Anti something...

I want the one that uses the most least memory and have a good detection rate. Any suggestions on how I would go around looking for the good one that's free and very gamer friendly.

Thanks.

I use AVG and have what I'd consider the minimum RAM required for gaming these days (1GB). Never noticed any problems/slowdowns due to AVG.

As current as my gaming gets is WoW though, so I may not be a good barometer.

I use AntiVir. But I close it for a gaming session, and re-open it when I'm done. Why not do that, then you aren't limiting your choices and can pick the one you want.

Not sure how much memory it uses, but Avast! has worked excellently for me and my friends.

Bitdefender 8 Free Edition - you can scan on demand, but it does not take up any resources. Excellent imho. . .
