Suggest me a credit card.

Hey all.

So I am a fine looking 25 year old male and I need a credit card.

I am starting Rotations at the end of June and in between now and then my student loans aren't going to cover me. My base site is about 300 miles away and I need to move between now and then. I thought I was going to be able to swing it with what I took out but as usual shit happens.

I remember there used to be a great thread about credit cards for students/first card. I tried hunting it down but haven't found it.

I am also assuming that with all the changes in credit lately it might not be completely up to date.

I have heard huge warnings against capital one. Otherwise I am completely ignorant about credit cards. I have been completely been working off a debit card all through undergrad and up to this point in med school.
Unfort, we don't get our next set of loans until the 30th of June and my bank account won't be able to hold with moving till then.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated and I can give more info if needed. Thanks all.

american express blue cash- you pay off your balance every month, and get 1-5% of your spendings back at the end of the year

Not Capital One, that's for sure. I bought a laptop with mine, they labelled it as a fraudulent purchase as I usually don't spend that much. Fine... except they never bothered to tell me they put the hold on my card. Imagine my embarrassment trying to use it.

I'd suggest going with a card from a reputable bank that has a branch you can go to if there's a problem. Interest rates are meaningless since you shouldn't carry a balance on the card anyway. Try and find one with no service fees.
