I have read many threads about the motherboard for this processor, but most of these are very od and suggested mb's not for sale anymore.

Any suggestions?

My setup is:
Antec 300 case
Antec 430 EA PS
4GB RAM
Windows 2008 server
1TB Hard drive & 250GB
DVDRW

I primarily use this for RAID, VS 2008, Silverlight, CS3, etc., softwares only. no gaming, no overclock.

Please suggest few good motherboards. Thanks,

Pretty much anything that has the features you need (enough USB ports or firewire, or the right orientation of the slots for best cooling, or enough SATA ports, or whatever your needs are)

If you aren't overclocking, you don't need anything special from the mobo. A decent P43 motherboard should be like $80-100 and you shouldn't need to be looking at anything over $100 unless you're using crossfire, overclocking, or need ultra special features like 2 built in LAN ports (or this one with 4 built in LAN ports... http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128343 WTH? Who buys that?)

For the most part, chipsets are similar enough that performance differences are very small, so features and layout are the primary factors in making your decision.

edit: Also what is the difference between p43 and p45?

they are essentially the same, but intel has disabled ability for P43 to be able to be used in an x8 + x8 PCIe configuration for Crossfire use, but allows that configuration for P45. In every other aspect, the specs are identical.

The board you linked is perfectly fine for your needs if you don't need firewire. I've never needed to ues a firewire port. With the new macbook not having one, I wouldn't be surprised if that is the beginning of a massive phase out anyway.

Hey.... a question that needs answer I believe - do you have a video card?

If not, there's no use for those mobos I think... we need one with integrated video 🙂

Edit - P.S. Lol@ that 4 ethernet mobo... sick...

I dont do any gaming, so i dont need video card. But i consider onboard video mb in the same price range with good reviews.
